FUKUDARUMA
The original forms of the papier-mache Daruma can be found in old Chinese toys. Daruma was first made in Japan as necessary article used to pray for good luck by farmers in the Edo era (17th century). Daruma without eyes was a necessity for farmers to pray for good harvest in agriculture and sericulture.
People now paint in one of the eyes of the Daruma when they want to make a wish come true and display it at places such as office. Safe and alcove.
They paint in the other eye when their wish come true.
In addition the daruma can be used as get well gift for those who are ill when you wish their recovery as it has a property for coming back to the upright position without fail.
